That has a depth that you don't get at first glance. You have to read it again and again. After the thousandth time you realize the the man is asking for a blessing. He is calling on the pointy bird to save him from this materialistic society in which he is trapped. Anoint him oh pointy bird. Anointy-nointy. Sigh. They just don't write em like that anymore. ;)
LMAO-Feisty I lurve you!

I agree with R.G. that he's asking for a blessing. But surely the bird is symbolic of a cardinal in the church where Steve got his ashes a few Wednesdays back. *snort*

Or maybe, the pointy bird represents the birds perched on those cliffs over the path where I road my bike -- I was "annointed" with their droppings all over my head (don't ask how many times I had to wash my hair). LOL.

I hope you post equally powerful poems every week. Loved it! :)

Lol.

I thought he was calling for a bird to poo on his head for good luck. I had a bird poo on my face in NYC, on my way to a photoshoot.

I don't think it brought good luck, however, lol.

oh come on - everybody knows that birds (outside of cages) represent hope and freedom from oppression. He's asking the bird to take down the man, dude. By inviting the "crap" he dismisses it as powerless over him. deep. for real. (snap, snap, snap)

I love Steve Martin!

Two wild and crazy guys from Czechoslovakia.. if i had a nickel for every American who does this routine when visit this city.

Most of them don't even realize Czechoslovakia hasn't existed for more than decade. And those who do, think it was just a name change!

That said, SNL wasn't really on USSR-run TV, so the joke is kind of lost on the locals, anyway.

Hmm, I've hijacked your blog. Sorry. :)
